While some of the works address the soul-stirring feeling of quietly soothing a loved one or the worries that keep you awake in the early hours of the morning – above all, the music on this album reflects the composers’ desire to explore the concept of the lullaby and the moments in our lives that inspire us to sing each other to sleep.

All of the compositions on this album were commissioned by and performed by mezzo-soprano Megan Ihnen.

Black Meridian is a theatrical recital of new music for voice, saxophone, and electronics. The show takes as its central theme the distortion of space and time around the presence of black holes; a metaphor is drawn between this astonishing cosmic phenomenon and the inevitable tragedy of relationships marred by miscommunication and disastrous personal choices.
